Litvinenko V.S.In the difficult circumstances associated with the transition towards a market economy, many educational institutions faced a serious problem of survivability. The potential to overcome the existing challenges and to gain momentum for the further development presupposes the elaboration of a well- balanced strategy and combined team effort to execute it. An effective employment of the experience and scientific potential of the Mining Institute accumulated over hundreds of years, strengthening the link with the industry, enhancing international partnership and, most importantly, maintaining the excellence in training professionals adapted to the conditions of market economy require exuberant teamwork.

The accomplishments of all the Mining Institute’s team cogently prove that in spite of the challenges of the transitional period, an academic institution is able to function effectively and independently providing high-quality training and scientific research realizing its intellectual potential supporting the sustained development of industry, especially mineral resources, energy and raw materials sectors that are paramount for the economic success of the Russian Federation and throughout the world.
